At 8,848 meters tall, Everest is the world’s highest mountain and possibly the most dangerous. One in 10 attempts ends in death, making it a high risk even for older climbers. Because of this, Jordan’s plans to climb Everest were criticized by many people. But the young climber understood the dangers and continued training. On May 22, 2010, Jordan reached Mt. Everest’s summit, becoming the youngest climber to ever make it. He thanked his team, which included his father, stepmother and three local Sherpas.

Since Jordan’s return from Everest, the young climber has become a popular motivational speaker. He especially encourages young people “to get off the couch and do things.” He advises them “to set goals and live an active and healthy lifestyle.” Jordan knows that not everyone dreams about climbing mountains. But he challenged an audience recently by having everyone close their eyes and picture their goal. “Find your Everest,” Jordan encouraged, “and climb it!”
